Lawrence Edward Page (born March 26, 1973) is an American computer scientist and internet entrepreneur. He is best known for launching Google in partnership with Sergey Brin.
Page was Google's chief executive from 1997 until August 2001 (stepping down in favor of Eric Schmidt) from April 2011 until July 2015 when he moved to become CEO of Alphabet Inc. (created to bring "significant improvements" as a parent to Google. company), a position he held until December 4, 2019. He is still a member of the Alphabet board, employee, and controlling shareholder.
Creating Google creates a valuable asset. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, as of June 2022, Page has a net worth of $ 104 billion, making him the sixth richest person in the world.
Page is the creator and name of PageRank, Google's search level algorithm. She won the Marconi Award in 2004 with her co-author Brin.
